67 - 373: Information Systems Consulting Project Course
In the “Information Systems Consulting Project” course, a small student team collaborates with a community partner / client to develop a useful information system solution to meet real organization needs. Following an initial context analysis phase, each project team proposes, defines, designs and implements a working information system or application with the client. Teams act as consultants working 'with' and not 'for' their clients. This course is taught in the Spring semester over 15 weeks. At the completion of the project, each team must provide a sustainable solution that fits the client's objectives, organization constraints and capabilities.
Learning Objectives:
Identifying and recommending appropriate solutions for client
requirements.
Applying skills across key phases of the system development life
cycle.
Collaborating effectively in small consulting teams.
Applying practical project management techniques to real projects.
Success in the course is contingent upon partnerships formed with
clients. Teams prioritize understanding and addressing client needs,
ensuring the delivery of valuable solutions. Client evaluation
contributes to the final grade, underscoring the importance of
delivering impactful solutions to clients.
